Opportunities abound for budget-savvy incentive travel groups heading to Myanmar to discover its untouched beauty from May to September.
With sustainable tourism playing an increasingly popular part of incentive programmes, it is no wonder 53 percent of travellers agree that sightseeing is one of the top five most common things they are willing to spend more on as a treat, according to TripBarometer. Incentive travel spend has also been known to pack greater dollar per day spending rates compared to leisure travel.
"Main tourist attractions in Myanmar such as Bagan, Mandalay, Northern Shan state, Kalaw and Inle Lake only get 25 percent chance of rainfall during the rainy season, and even if it rains on these days, it's usually short. Travellers will therefore enjoy a very pleasant mild climate and green, lush landscapes," says May Myat Mon Win, Vice Chairman (Marketing) of Myanmar Tourism Federation.
Here are the nine advantages for those visiting Myanmar during its green season:
To encourage even more tourists to visit Myanmar in this time of year, travel agencies have also come up with additional benefits and promotional packages for tourists.
Noteworthy promotions include offering a free lunch to every client if it happens to rain for more than an hour during your sightseeing "up country". Other promotions include "stay for three nights and pay for two" offers at hotels or "take as much luggage as you can for free" on domestic flights, to emphasise the fact that domestic airlines in Myanmar don't charge any "hidden costs" and that in-country flights are actually very affordable.
Participating Myanmar travel agencies include Exo, Columbus, Asia DMC, Khiri, Adventure Myanmar, Sweet Memory, Asia Central Link, Taw Win, Sunbird, JTB Polestar, Ethical Seven Star, Mighty Myanmar, New Motion, Vision Travel, All Asia Exclusive and Orchestra Travel.
Hotels participating in the programme are Myanmar Hill Lodges, Vintage Luxury Yacht hotel, Villa Inle, Sanctum Inle, Melia, Inya Lake, Chatrium, Sule Shangri-La, Summit Parkview, Novotel Yangon and Amazing hotels.
Domestic airlines offering promotional fares are Air KBZ, FMI Airlines, Air Mandalay, Yangon Airways and Golden Myanmar.
Emirates Airlines, which has launched daily flights to Yangon since last year, understands the advantages of travelling in the green season and will continue to offer daily flights to Myanmar during this period.
